Gümüslük

Gümüslük is one of the best preserved parts of Bodrum and boasts buildings of fragments dating back to antiquity.

Gümüslük is on the opposite side of the Bodrum peninsula, about 20 minutes by car or local minibus from Bodrum center. The village is still a vibrant fishing port, with more than a dozen fish restaurants along the sea front, and shows a wide range of locally caught fish.

Near the ancient city Myndos, the village is now a protected area, so no cars are allowed to drive in the center.

The pretty sleepy fishing village of Gümüslük, is a charming and beautiful place, a natural harbor and home to some great restaurants and cafes with a romantic touch and lots of charm. You can wade out from the beach to Rabbit Island and from the top of you can get a great view of the village and its surroundings, and feed the wild rabbits that live there.

Gümüslük have fresh fish for sale and charming little markets selling ornamental things, also one of the oldest places on the peninsula and there are ancient underwater ruins that attract snorkelers from around the world each year.

Gümüslük has some excellent restaurants where all the fresh fish is on display, there is a wide selection of flavors to try out from the many family-owned restaurants that are lined up along the sea. A good place to visit and socialize, relax in the sun or at the beach with sunbeds to hire and beach service for drinks and snacks.

Gümüslük has become very popular and known among the Swedes and other Scandinavians. There have been some Swedish architects who have been involved in a major project. Many of those who spent their vacation in Gümüslük lost his heart there and bought a villa or an apartment for his/her own use. A few of them are living at their property year-round, for others it's a summer house where they live when they come to Gümüslük for their annual visits.
